Operations Department

The growing production and test departments were merged to form a new Operations Department. All staff are currently being trained and retrained so that by mid 2012 there will be a multi-disciplined team with staff capable of moving around the department when necessary.

More staff will be qualified in machine testing and PCB building.  This new organization will allow Morgan to quickly adapt to peaks in demand.

The Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire has visited a Petersfield firm to present it with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

Morgan Innovation and Technology makes medical pain relief equipment – lesion generators – for an American firm, which are shipped around the world for use in hospitals, as well as other medical industry related products.

Co-owner and managing director Sue Clarke said: “it was started by my husband Howard and I in 1987.

He’s a designer, an inventor, so we needed a company to exploit the ideas we had.

Now we have about 60% of the world market.”

It is for exports that the company won the Queen’s Award for Entetrprise in the International Trade  category.

During the past three years Morgan has increased its overseas earnings by 84% and its exports now account for 85% of its annual sales.

It is also developing new ideas, in areas like stroke treatment and sleep apnoea.

During the past three years Morgan has increased its overseas earnings by 84 per cent and its exports now account for 85 per cent of its annual sales.

The company’s principal product line is a range of radio frequency lesion generators for bringing pain relief to hospital patients – especially those with acute back problems which it designs and manufactures for Neurotherm Inc. The Company’s strategic partnership with Neurotherm is an important element of its success.

Managing Director Sue Clarke believes the company is also gaining a vital competitive edge by developing and manufacturing a host of new ideas, in fields as diverse as motor neurone disease, stroke treatment and sleep apnoea.

“Working closely with users of specialised equipment in hospitals and clinics we are geared up to identify and develop innovative new ideas for treatment, which might otherwise have gone by the board, because the potential volumes are not sufficiently attractive for large manufacturers,” she says.

A key source of many of the innovative ideas that Morgan develop and put into production is via excellent contacts in the UK research community, particularly universities and hospitals. This is leading to revolutionary new machines for the specialised medical treatments that the company is now working on and, which will become available over the next few years.

Morgan owes a lot of credit for its break-through technologies to Technical Director Howard Clarke, who with wife Sue established the company back in 1987 to develop his pain relief ideas. In growing the company to its present position they have been aided by the financial expertise of fellow director Andrew Rowland.

The Company employs 24 people and, to accommodate its expanding business, moved from Liss to its present new hi-tech premises on Petersfield Business Park in January this year.

We take ideas from enterprising individuals, universities and hospitals. We analyse every proposal, design a solution and if viable convert them into reality and take into production.

Initially Morgan specialised in developing medical products including innovative back pain relief technologies now used throughout the world.

Now with a large R&D department and its own production line Morgan has worked with clients such as Sainsburys, Cable and Wireless, 3M and Schering Plough.

The move started on Friday January 21 and by Wednesday 26 production had started again and by the end of the month the Company was once again fully operational.

The new premises are over twice the size of the old, and Morgan has taken the opportunity of installing ESD flooring, environmentally friendly heat exchange heating and air conditioning and daylight lighting.

The Company took the opportunity of the move to rebrand. As a name Morgan Automation had stood the Company well but it was felt that a more modern name was required hence Morgan Innovation & Technology Ltd. Together with the new name came a new logo, emphasising the Company’s many areas of expertise and experience.
